AutoCAD How To Find & Open Autosave Backup Files! (.ac$ .bak) – 2 Minute Tuesday

Hey Everybody,

Brandon here with this weeks 2 Minute Tuesday post!

In this week’s video we are taking a quick yet detailed look at how to setup, find and open backup files (.bak) in AutoCAD.
This also includes how to use and recover autosave files (.ac$) which can literally be a project/life saver!

If you’ve been using AutoCAD for a while now, I’m sure you’ve come across these file types at some point or another. They can be used in similar ways and can save a ton of headache if things ever go wrong!

In the video I walk through the process of how to setup various options and features for your autosave files, including how to set the autosave time interval, save file path and even how to change the file name/type of your autosaves.

This goes for the .bak file as well, where we look at where they’re saved (hint: They’re in the same folder as your drawing (.dwg) file) as well as how you’ll need to modify them in order to open them in AutoCAD.

That’s all for today’s quick Autocad Tip, I hope you all were able to take something away from it and able to add a new tool to your CAD toolbox!
